#3 Clare Fisher on Carson McCullers

We talk to Clare Fisher, author of All The Good Things, about Carson McCullers’s The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Her chosen passage centres on Mick, a 12-year-old tomboy living in a mill town in 1930s Georgia and one of four characters who befriends a deaf-mute after he moves into her parents’ boarding house.

Clare Fisher studied History at the University of Oxford and Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her debut novel is All The Good Things, the story of Beth, a woman writing letters to her infant daughter from prison. She is currently working on her second.
